Our family kennel has about one litter every year or every other year depending on our schedules. We are certainly NOT a puppy mill.
It’s always an exciting time at Hill Haven Kennel when there is a new litter on the way. Our family kennel only has a limited number of litters, so our beautiful English Cream Golden Retriever puppies are usually spoken for well in advance.

Once born, each puppy receives a distinctive color of yarn around the neck area so we can easily monitor their progress. We also keep journals with all the information we can obtain on each puppy, so this information can be given to our future buyer. We want our future buyer’s to know everything there is to know about their future companion.
The distinctive personality of each puppy and their general overall manner is also recorded. Everyone in our family participates in helping with the work that it takes to do this. Although, we do have a large kennel on the estate complete with bathing/grooming facility, outdoor covered grass runs, temperature-controlled, and a kitchen and laundry facility; we still raise the pups inside our family home.
We keep the litter in a large whelping box complete with a play area off of our kitchen. This enclosure has access to outside, creating a natural, normal progression to potty training.
Our English Cream Golden Retriever puppies are treated with the utmost care; after all, they are our pets/family before they become yours!
Our puppies are immediately integrated into our family and have constant interaction with our other dogs. All the dogs are provided with the utmost quality of care and love. Our puppies also interact with all of our visitors that come to our home. Our dogs are very well socialized, they are held and petted constantly. You can usually find the puppies close to their mother or under your feet! We love our dogs and we take pride in sharing our world with yours.
We strongly believe that the very best way to select an English Cream Golden Retriever puppy is to visit our kennel and spend time with them. This way you will be able to see for yourself how the puppy responds to you and you will know which one you like best and successfully determine which one is best for you.
All of our puppies are kept together from birth until about five to six weeks as they begin to demonstrate independence. We encourage them to nap in open door crates. They are introduced to the crate from the start and are fully crate trained when they arrive at their new homes. This is done so the puppies understand that there is a proper place for them to retire. They ultimately travel better, they sleep better and they have a better sense of well-being. We spend a tremendous amount of time (hours and hours) training our puppies, using repetitive and positive reinforcement.
Our dogs are confident and sporting animals! They love water and are introduced, never forced, at an early age. We have found that early and frequent training establishes well adjusted, confident, and eager to please dogs.

We provide warranties for each of our puppies. Additionally, we want to match the personalities of our dogs to your household, which is why our questionnaire might seem a bit lengthy. We believe that if you are going to spend the next 12-15 years together it’s best to invest in the future, today.
